Gaspard was the leader of the Mono translation team until his death in 2014 at which point his wife, Marie, became the project leader. In an interview Gaspard said: "When we read [Scripture] in our language, it’s as if God is directing himself to you because it’s your language. You don’t need an interpreter. You understand immediately."
