Gaspard was the leader of the Mono translation team until his death in 2014 at which point his wife, Marie, became the project leader. In an interview Gaspard said: "The Bible when it is interpreted in other languages, it brings problems. It doesn’t transform people. It needs to be in their languages to allow them to better understand the will of God and to apply it themselves so that the will of God will take place in their lives. Once they’ve learned it in their language, they will understand, and it will be complete. Translation and literacy need to progress to help the people.”
