Caption: Adia Issah (holding the fufu) whose mother tongue is Nafaanra runs a small restaurant in Banda Ahenkro, in Brong Ahafo Region of central Ghana. Adia was given a small loan (as part of a micro enterprise developed from Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation’s (GILLBT) Development Assistance Training Program (DATP)) to start a business, but the loan is tied to her requirement to attend literacy classes. Along the way she is also given training in how to manage the business she planned to start. Called beneficiaries, the number one response when asked how she has benefited from literacy and her business is her ability to pay school fees for her children.
