Aseita Musah (not pictured), Awaabu Zaafaya and Ayi Yakubu (not pictured) are part of a micro enterprise developed from Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation’s (GILLBT) Development Assistance Training Program (DATP). The women are given small loans to start businesses, but the loan is tied to their requirement to attend literacy classes. Along the way they are also given training in how to manage the business they plan to start. Called beneficiaries, the overall response when asked how they have benefited is their ability to pay school fees for their children. All three of these women’s mother tongue is Mampruli and come from Wulugu, Ghana in the Northern Region. Issahaku’s mother tongue is also Mampruli.
