Caption: Jeremiah Bukari stands behind a counter in his provisions stor in which he is part of a micro enterprise developed from Ghana Institute of Linguistics, Literacy and Bible Translation’s (GILLBT) Development Assistance Training Program (DATP). Jeremiah was given a small loan to start a business, but the loan is tied to his requirement to attend literacy classes. Along the way he is also given training in how to manage the business he plans to start. Called beneficiaries, the overall response when asked how he has benefited is his ability to pay school fees for his children. In a provisions store he sells various items: sugar, drinks, cold drinks, canned fish, string, soap etc. He also has a rather innovative cell phone and cell phone battery charging station where customers can charge their phone and/or batteries for a small fee. Jeremiah’s mother tongue is Mampruli and he comes from Wulugu, Ghana in the Northern Region.
